Golf-related tourism is now high on the political agenda.
Near St Andrews, large tracts of land are being given over to exclusive
golf-related complexes for executive 'incentive' holidays.
Those of us who live near the 'home of golf' may benefit
(jobs, new leisure facilities), but we may also stand to lose (pressure on
infrastructure, loss of affordable housing, loss of access to preferred walks
and golf courses, decline in traditional tourist trade).
Non-golfing visitors, by far the largest contributors to our
local economy, may chose, or be forced, to stay well clear of the area.
Casual golfing visitors (without the benefit of packaged
deals) may find it hard to organise an affordable game at a reasonable time,
anywhere near St Andrews. Golf-related issues covered so
